The lead singer of Modest Mouse lives just off of the renewed Mississippi commercial district as does James Mercer of The Shins who owns a home in Mississippi Street corridor. (Source)
The former Eliot school, now the Matt Dishman Center, was named after Thomas Lamb Eliot. Like many Portland neighborhoods, Eliot neighborhood was named after the school. (Source)
